Tool Room Manager

Your Role
- Responsible for tool room operations and inventory management, including maintaining accurate records of tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges
- Implement 6S methodology to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient tool room environment
- Monitor tool usage and lifecycle to reduce downtime and prevent shortages
- Drive lean process implementation by applying Toyota Production System (TPS) principles to streamline workflows
- Identify and eliminate muda (waste) in tool storage, retrieval, and maintenance processes
- Standardize tool room procedures to ensure consistency and reliability
- Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance and calibration of tools
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure tool readiness and compliance
- Lead and develop tool room staff, promoting a culture of respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Conduct regular training on TPS concepts, safety, and best practices in tool handling
- Facilitate Kaizen events focused on tool room efficiency and production support
- Use root cause analysis to resolve recurring tool-related issues
- Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to support manufacturing needs
- Participate in Gemba walks to understand frontline challenges and improve tool support
Your Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in tool room or maintenance management within a lean manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of Toyota Production System (TPS), 5S, Kanban, and Kaizen methodologies
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and inventory management systems
