Regional Electronic Components Buyer

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automotive Electronics Buyer responsible for leading strategic sourcing, supplier development, and negotiation activities for active and passive electronic components. The role operates globally and regionally, collaborating cross-functionally with Purchasing, Program Management (PM), Product Development (PD), Logistics, and Operations teams to ensure supply continuity, cost optimization, and alignment with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve supplier sourcing strategies aligned with business and regional (USMCA) objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new suppliers globally and regionally.
  • Drive supplier localization initiatives, including re-localization into USMCA region to reduce risk and improve competitiveness.
  • Manage and propose alternatives on Approved Vendor Lists (AVL).

Negotiation & Commercial Leadership

  • Lead complex commercial negotiations with suppliers for active and passive components.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, NCNR (Non-Cancellable/Non-Returnable) terms, lead times, and allocation commitments.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and long-term commercial agreements.

Supply Chain & Market Management

  • Manage component allocation risks and ensure continuity in constrained markets.
  • Oversee distributor channels and ensure optimal sourcing strategies (direct vs. distribution).
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and technology changes impacting electronics supply.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with PM, PD, Engineering, Logistics, and Operations teams to ensure alignment across the product lifecycle.
  • Support product launches, engineering changes, and lifecycle management activities (e.g., EOL, redesigns).
  • Drive supplier performance reviews and corrective actions.

 

Operational Execution

  • Manage procurement activities using SAP and ensure data accuracy in PDM systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze spending, supplier performance, and market data using Excel and reporting tools.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Mechatronik Engineering, Business Administration/supply chain management, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in automotive of electronics sourcing.
  • Proven experience in:
    • Negotiating electronic components (ICs, semiconductors, resistors, capacitors, etc.)
    • Supplier development and global sourcing
    • Managing allocation and constrained supply markets
    • Working with distributors and OEM sourcing models

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Deep understanding of electronic components markets (active & passive)
  • Experience with USMCA supply chain strategy and localization
  • Knowledge of:
    • NCNR agreements
    • Product lifecycle changes
    • AVL management
  • Proficiency in:
    • SAP (MM or related modules)
    • PDM systems
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, analysis, forecasting)

Language & Communication

  • Fluent English (mandatory)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in a global environment
