Product Costing Engineer

Your Role
- Develop cost estimates for new projects during the quotation and development process
- Compute cost by analyzing labor, material, and manufacturing time requirements
- Determine cost goals (target costing), development of cost calculations for cost-oriented quotes on the basis information at hand
- Provide costing information to support decision making and collaborate with other departments
- Continuously monitor costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction during the entire product lifecycle
- Monitor and report on cost trends and variances, identifying potential issues and proposing corrective actions
- Participate in design reviews to identify cost reduction opportunities while maintaining quality standards
- Work closely with project teams to ensure that cost targets are met or exceeded
- Develop cost models and cost estimating tools to support accurate pricing and profitability analysis
- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing and ensure cost competitiveness
- Participate in the development of annual budgets and forecasts
- Ensure compliance with financial and accounting policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain accurate and timely cost data and documentation
- Analysis and evaluation of competitor’s products benchmark
- Execution of allocated estimated/actual comparisons
- Support Sales and Purchasing with matters concerning price negotiations
Your Skills
- Associate’s degree in technical field and accounting or 4 years related experience
- 3+ years of experience in product costing, cost estimation, or related field preferably in the automotive industry
- Knowledge of cost analysis and cost accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems i.e. SAP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Extensive knowledge in Manufacturing processes, secondary operations and purchased parts
- Understanding lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvements
