Quality Engineer

Your Role

  • Develop and maintain quality planning documentation, including:
    • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
    • Control Plans
    • Inspection Instructions
    • Gauging Requirements
  • Coordinate the PPAP process from preparation through customer submission and approval
  • Facilitate the development and submission of customer-required quality documentation
  • Verify component revision levels and ensure compliance with customer specifications
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and acceptance criteria
  • Perform failure analysis on internal and external nonconforming products
  • Conduct statistical analysis and process capability studies
  • Lead Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) studies
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Create and communicate Quality Alerts as needed
  • Utilize advanced problem-solving methodologies to improve product and process performance
  • Analyze warranty data, complaints, and claim trends
  • Process customer warranty complaints and customer debit claims
  • Ensure customer warranty requirements are understood and consistently applied
  • Prepare warranty reports and documentation
  • Communicate warranty-related risks, trends, and upcoming claims to management
  • Coordinate customer and supplier claim resolution activities
  • Coordinate and maintain the calibration system for inspection and measuring equipment
  • Train inspectors on gauging techniques and new measurement equipment
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues

Your Skills

  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Up to 8 years of relevant experience in a similar quality engineering role may be substituted for formal education
  • Minimum of 3 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Previous automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with customer quality requirements and PPAP submissions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Comprehensive understanding of AIAG
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Experience with:
    • Process Mapping
    • Cause & Effect Analysis
    • FMEA
    • Control plans
    • Blueprint reading
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
    • Capability Studies
    • Multi-Vari Studies
    • Design of Experiments (DOE)
    • ANOVA
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Internal and External Quality Auditing
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
